The Balangir town police headed by inspector-in-charge Srimanta Barik arrested two house burglars, Makund Nag and Sahyam Sundar Suna, and seized valuables worth of around Rs 8 lakh including  two laptops, mobile cameras, gold ornaments, coins and currency notes of foreign countries like cents, wristwatches, sarees and utensils.
The burglars used to target those houses which were locked due to absence of occupants. Makund Nag a few months ago had escaped from Bargarh after being involvement in a number of cases there.
The Balangir police also nabbed one DS Mahanty of Jagatsingpur district, who was allegedly collecting money from candidates to arrange jobs for them in the Army. The police seized Army uniforms from him. A case in this regard was registered in the town police station.
“We have intimated this matter to the Army authorities for further verification,” informed IIC Barik.
