The agitators demanded identification of both small and big depositors, arrest of owners of all fraudulent companies and confiscate their movable and immovable property and refund the hard earned money of depositors immediately.
While over 300 companies are under investigation by the Odisha police, the Crime Branch’s Economic Offences Wing and the CBI, only a few have been arrested, pointed out Das.Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely “assured us” on December 17 to amend the flawed laws to check further any such fraud by companies, but nothing has been done so far, Das lamented. The Central Government must amend the flawed laws that pave way for such massive scam and also ensure the recovery of people’s money from the companies and refund to the duped depositors, Das demanded.
Later, the activists submitted a five- point charter of demands to the Tehsildar, Saintala.

As part of its month-long tehsil level satyagraha, the Arthika Sanstha Manankadwara Kshyatigrasta Milita Manch, an investors body which lost money in the chit fund scam, orgnised a protest meeting in Balangir. Duped investors of Balangir, Nuapda, Kalhandi and other nearby districts attended the meeting addressed by Manch convenor Jayanta Das.
The Manch had launched its satyagraha from the tehsil office in Baripada town last week demanding identification of chit fund victims in tehsil level. Das alleged that the State has paid deaf ear to the demand to conduct tehsil-wise door-to-door survey to identify the investors, find out the money deposited by them in the chit fund companies and return the amount.
