Workshop on how to prevent forest fire held at Bongomunda;5thMarch2017
Bolangir : A one day workshop on how to prevent forest fire was held at Bongomunda on 5th March 2017.
Bolangir DFO Rashmi Ranjan Naik, Honorary wildlife warden Sri Sudhir Mishra, ACF Goutam Naik and others spoke on this occasion.
Speakers sought the cooperation of VanaSurakshya Samiti (VSS)members and people to tackle forest fire effectively.
ACF Goutam Naik explained the cause of forest fire and how to deal with it,DFO Rashmi Ranjan Naik highlited the seriousness government has given to forest fire and how forest fire is being monitored by satellite and information sent to ground level to forest fire .He expressed displeasure over the poor performance of ground staff and told them to improve .
Correspondent of The Pioneer at Bolangir, Sudhir Mishra spoke on the disastrous consequences of forest fire and stressed the need to prevent it.
VSS members and others present there raised the following points namely 1) holding of sensitization meeting with villagers earlier say by January)2)Supply of special boots to be wear during forest fire fighting, protective glasses, a kit bag containing emergency medicine, water ,special dress, more interaction with villagers on the ground below
Mahul tree which is set fire to collect Mahul and increase in the total area of fire line creationAmong others Range Officer Bongomunda, Muribahal Kantababji, besides the forester stage Range attended it.
