TThe Bharat Bandh observed by different trade unions protesting the anti-labour policy of the Modi Government on Wednesday passed off peacefully in Balangir district.

Central Government undertaking like banks, post offices, LIC, BSNL and other Government offices were closed. Though school and colleges were closed in the town, shops were opened and bus services were unaffected during the protest.

Members of the Orissa Sales Representatives’ Union, Balangir led by its president Suru Matari staged adharna before the Collector office. Besides, BSNL Employees Association, Utakl Gramya Bank Employees Association, Life Insurance Employees Association and other bodies under the banner of the OdishaShramik Karmachari Eakta Manch Balangir also staged dharna in front of the Collectorate.
